Day 7: Home Day!

By the last day we were ready to come home and see our little neglected baby (she wasnt really neglected, she had so much fun with grandma and grandpa and probably didn't even realize we were gone)
We had one last breakfast in the pretty dining room, I loved those croissants, pain au choclates, little babybell cheeses, hot chocolate and baguettes! Best breakfast ever!

Our flight was much much better this time. We were in a two seat row so it was just me and eric, our tvs were better, and we could order any movie we wanted whenever we wanted and pause it when our food came etc. i watched post grad (terrible), the time traveller's wife (not as good as the book, but still entertaining) and julie and julia (loved the movie, didn't agree with the french food possibly being good. haha jk)
When we went to pick up our little munchkin she just stared at us from the top of the stairs for a while at first. But when I got to her she reached for me and just layed her head on my shoulder. So precious. Then she showed us all of her new tricks for the rest of the night, inbetween coming to lay her head on us periodically. Too cute. We missed her so much! She even looked a little older to me and her hair was a little longer. Grandma spoiled her and got her new pajamas, a new church outfit, play clothes and shoes. Thank you Grandma and Grandpa and Uncle Kye for taking such good care of our little baby while we were gone!

Day 6: Notre Dame and Versailles

Notre Dame
Eric trying to feed the pigeons with...nothing.

Versailles

The Kings Bedroom
The Queens Bedroom

Once again our camera is sucking it up at night. The building was really beautiful though.
The courtyard
The gardens

We went to a mexican place to eat. Don't ask me why. It was hilarious though because the three other groups in there were also american.

I got fajitas. They were disgusting. Are you surpirsed? Included in them were broccoli, peas and olives. Interesting mixture.

As we were walking back to the metro we heard Michael Jackson playing outside, as we got closer there was a huge crowd of people around a skating rink cheering.

Oh dear.

Day 5: Arc De Triomphe & Champs Elysees

Before we left for our daily ride on the subway we hit up a Patisserie (bakery) on our street to get brunch. We both got pitas. Ham for me and chicken for Eric. We also finally found a religeuse, a pastry that our friend Dave had been raving to us about and apparently spent hundreds of dollars on on his mission to France. haha We walked to the subway to eat our lunch while we waited. I bit into my FATTY ham pita and started gagging. Another delicious meal in france. (my friend Erika swears that french food is good, i guess we just didn't know how to pick the places)Two pastries for lunch for me.

Eric with his religeuse pastry

First stop was the Arc de Triomphe. The arc honors those who fought in France.
Inside the arc. I love all the detailing. The flowers were carved out and looked so cool. On the inside and top of the arc there are names of generals and wars fought.
Under the Arc de Triomphe is the tomb of the unknown soldier from WWI.
It is the second largest triumphal arc in excistence.
Champs Elysees is on the same street as the Arc de Triomphe so we headed down there next. It is a prestigious avenue and one of the most famous streets in the world. This is one of the pretty christmas displays they had along the street. This is in front of a wireless phone carrier. Apparently some workers went in there from a sister company and were complaining about poor work conditions and one of the workers pushed one of them. So the police were there to monitor the situation. I guess they strike all the time over here. It was amusing. Tons of people were gathered around shouting and taking pictures.

A cool car in Toyota

In front of a cute choclatier.
This is what you think it is. Eric said it was one of his favorite parts of the trip. Boys. And, yes, we did see someone step in it.
My favorite part was when the lights came on at night. The street is 1.25 miles long and has identical trees lining the whole thing so it looked so pretty when they were all turned on.

We ate at a sushi place for dinner. Best meal I had while we were there.

Day 4: Louvre

Today was Eric's second and last day of meetings. AND he got home at 4 which was nice because we still had a lot of the day left!
So off we went to the Louvre!

We spent a lot of time in the subway! We had totally mastered the system by the time we left. It was kind of fun riding it everywhere. My favorite was when people would play instruments on it. So entertaining. But you could tell all the locals were so over it.
the glass pyramids

It was hard to get to the front of the crowd to get my pic taken with ML. I think my smile looks kind of like hers.
Pretty ceilings

In the medieval area
Oh Eric.
Admiring the art.

I liked all the baby sculptures.
If you are really into art, you can probably tell that we are not. The louvre is a beautiful museum, had lots of cool things in it and was really neat to peruse. But we had no idea what we were looking at most of the time. It was still fun though. That thing is huge! We got lost many times. We kept laughing that certain people we know who are very into art would want to kill us if they saw us in there.
Afterwards we went to the cutest little choclatier and got gelato. It was delicious! we got a really rich chocolate, straciatelli (a white creamy base with chocolate shavings) and marrons glace(chestnut candied in sugar syrup and glazed). There are chestnut stands EVERYWHERE in paris. They are obsessed. The lady was funny when we were trying to order because she couldnt think of what marrons glace was in english, before we left she showed us a picture she had drawn of a chestnut. So cute.
I couldnt resist this HUGE cotton candy after we ate our ice cream It was just so big and pretty!

Day 3: Eiffel Tower

Today was the first day that Eric had meetings. So I was trapped in the mini hotel room with French tv channels (aside from a couple of depressing news channels). Mostly I read, slept and played games on my cell phone. Eric got back around 6 and we went to a deli/pastry shop and got ham on baguettes which were pretty good. We got a buchette and an eclair for dessert.

Delicious Buchette

It is the 120th anniversary of the opening of the Eiffel Tower right now so they have light shows going on every hour which was pretty cool. Our camera sucks at night.

Here's a little video of the light show. Don't mind my awesome filming skills.

The Seine river is behind us. It looked really pretty from this area at night. So romantic.
